Member Policies

YMCA memberships are intended for the individual or household listed on the account and may not be shared. Members must check in at the front desk upon each visit and carry a valid membership ID. Providing false information or allowing unauthorized use of a membership may result in suspension or termination of membership privileges.

All members, guests, and program participants are expected to behave in a respectful and courteous manner. Inappropriate language, harassment, disruptive behavior, or actions that threaten the safety of others are not permitted. The YMCA reserves the right to take appropriate action, including suspension or termination of membership, to maintain a safe environment.

The Algona Family YMCA is committed to youth safety. Children must follow age-appropriate guidelines for facility access, including supervision requirements in fitness areas, locker rooms, and common spaces. Youth are expected to follow all posted rules and staff instructions while participating in YMCA programs or using YMCA facilities.

Members are asked to respect privacy and maintain appropriate behavior in locker rooms and shared spaces. Proper athletic attire is required throughout the facility. The YMCA is not responsible for lost or stolen items, and members are encouraged to use lockers and secure personal belongings.

For the safety of all members, individuals should refrain from using YMCA facilities if experiencing illness or symptoms that could impact others. Members must follow all posted safety rules, equipment instructions, and staff guidance. Emergency procedures are in place, and staff are trained to respond appropriately.

The YMCA reserves the right to suspend or terminate memberships for policy violations, unsafe behavior, or actions that conflict with YMCA values. Decisions are made with care and fairness, with the goal of maintaining a safe, welcoming environment for the entire YMCA community.
